About William Beveridge.
William Beveridge, born in the village of Craigh Tough Aberdeenshire in July 1821 and died Chapel of Garioch. He had a true artistic flare. Violins are beautifully modelled and finished, Scroll is well cut, Tailpieces are elaborately carved. This violin and another instrument comes direct from the descendants of William Beveridge who live in the USA today and looking to see the violins come back home to Scotland.
About the Violin
This violin is labelled William Beveridge Fecit Tough 1891. The one piece highly flamed back has matching ribs and scroll. The front made from wonderful two-piece tight grain spruce that could only have come from Europe. The scroll is a stunning piece of art and monogramed with W.B on the back of the scroll. Stamped under the button W. Beveridge Tough. William is renowned for his well made and elaborate tailpieces and this one excels
The Sound
This violin having an open clear tone and an expressive range on all the strings. This violin would be well placed in any playing environment.
Condition
This violin is exquisite in construction very clean and in fantastic condition for being 133 years old. There are no cracks at all and no repairs.
